Why Dark Green is the new Navy Blue
October 27, 2017
Studio Green. There, I said it. Dark green is having a moment right now and in my opinion, it's not going to be a fleeting one. Suddenly, everywhere I go I want to see this soothing and rich color. I want my kitchen painted Studio Green, like this gorgeous one below.
I want the walls of my future library enveloping me in this lovely dark mossy color. Studio Green makes me want to settle into a seat made of wonderfully soft vintage leather and just smell old books all day. Until this happens my Tobacco parfum will have to do.
Green has never been a terribly popular design choice. Kelly Green for a front door, yes. But entire walls in green? Very rarely. Bright green always seemed like a color choice for a more whimsical project or even a kid's room. Dark green was resigned to the pages of hunting magazines and Wellington boots.
Bright Green for a Front Door - Yes please.
But now it's finally time. Goodbye nautical navy blue. Hello bold, beautiful and daring green.
I am lucky enough to have convinced a current client to paint their kitchen island Studio Green by Farrow and Ball. We are also painting the recessed area around their dining room chandelier to match. They gets TONS of natural light in both of these areas so the green really shines. I will show before and afters pictures once it is done.
So who's with me?? Remember friends, the greatest advantage of paint?? It's not permanent!!! If you don't like your new statement wall, just repaint it back. Or try a new color. Paint is your friend and dark green paint is the new girl on campus that everyone wants to be friends with but are a little intimidated by as she looks like she knows more about kissing boys that you do.
And with that I will leave you! Because I can't do better than this image above of my favorite kitchen in all the land. I want to sidle up to that antique table and have someone put down a bottle of Chateauneuf-du-Pape and a charcuterie board and my best friend who lives in Oz and tell me that I have all night to drink, eat and tell of times of ol'.
Enjoy your weekend friends! May your wine glasses be full and your walls be green!
